Aotea College is a large, multicultural, coeducational secondary school, based in Porirua City, with an established reputation for student engagement and a strong community spirit.
We are seeking a proactive Library Assistant to work with our team. Your role will involve interacting with and providing services with and to, students from Year 9 to Year 13, teachers and support staff. For this position, ideally we are seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to join our team, however, this is not essential.
The successful applicant will have a passion for reading, learning and helping students to develop that joy for reading and learning. To be considered ideally you will also have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to relate well to all in our community
- Digital competency and/or the enthusiasm to learn to use a range of software including Google and Oliver (Library management system).
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment as well as to work independently and show initiative.
This is a fixed term, part-time position until the end of 2018 of 10 hours per week over 3 days, during the school term.
Wage rate is determined by the NZEI Support Staff in Schools Collective, and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
