Pasifika Parents night
Sep 12, 2017

Talofa Lava, Kia Orana, Malo e Lelei, Fakaalofa Lahi atu, Bula Vinaka, Talofa Ni and greetings to you all

Te Rōpū Āwhina is Victoria University’s on-campus whanau support for Māori and Pasifika students enrolled in degrees or courses in Science, Engineering, Architecture and Design. Te Ropu Awhina aims to produce successful scientists, engineers, architects and designers that will contribute to Maori and Pacific development.

This year Te Rōpū Āwhina will be hosting a Pasifika Parents night (please see attachment) to showcase our Pasifika students here at Victoria. We will hear how our students are using science to help their community, families and culture; and about the different career paths they wish to pursue once they have graduated. We will also be hearing success stories from our Pasifika Alumni on how they are contributing to the field of science.

Our aim is to inform our Pasifika parents and future Pasifika students of the many opportunities in the Science, Engineering, Architecture and Design industries, and we believe family plays an important role in the educational success of our young Pasifika people.

We would greatly appreciate you circulating this email to the parents of Pasifika students in your schools, we are also hoping to advertise this event via radio and newspaper.

We would also appreciate if the parents and students attending could RSVP for catering purposes, this can be done via email: taputu.raea@vuw.ac.nz or by phone: (04) 463 5748.
