Learning services are available to everyone to support an inclusive education and ensure students with diverse learning needs are able to take part in all aspects of school life. A wide range of support is available depending on the needs of the student.
We ensure students have access to the New Zealand Curriculum and develop key competencies.
The department offers Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with high learning needs. Parents can email the Head of Learning support, Sarah McBride (sam@aotea.school.nz) for more information.
Learning Support can offer assistance to students who are referred by parents, teachers or students who have referred themselves, for moderate education needs. Sophie Rattanong (rtg@aotea.school.nz) co-ordinates student screening and Te Kura. Paloma Santamaria Sanz(saz@aotea.school.nz) co-ordinates special assessment conditions for students needing accommodation for assessments.
Special support for access to qualifications is provided through the use of reader-writers and special assessment conditions where appropriate.
